One in 8 women in the US will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, and one in 833 men. Breast cancer is the second deadliest type of cancer in women, trailing only lung cancer.

OPW is built on the belief that the early detection of breast cancer requires access to screening, follow-up, and timely and appropriate evaluation of symptoms. OPW provides access to mammograms, biopsies and surgeries and serves people of all ages. OPW reimburses our medical partners a contracted rate for each procedure – mammograms, biopsies and surgeries. The medical partner agrees to write off the remainder of the procedure cost. Clients are billed nothing.

Since 1998, OPW has provided access to care for more than 69,000 uninsured Oklahomans. 906 patients have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
